Vols Football: 5 Position Battles To Watch In The Off-Season
By Zach Ragan
Defensive Tackle
This isn’t so much a position battle as much as an embarrassment of riches for Tennessee.
The Vols signed some elite defensive tackle talent in their 2015 recruiting class and that talent will have to find a way to get on the field this upcoming season.
Tennessee will return Danny O’Brien and Owen Williams from last season, while adding future studs Shy Tuttle and Kahlil McKenzie.

The underrated Quay Picou, a true freshman, will also be in the mix for playing time.
Of the newcomers, only Tuttle is an early enrollee.
McKenzie, though not a early enrollee, is talented enough to compete for a starting job this fall.
It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to see McKenzie or Tuttle listed atop the depth chart when the season begins.
And even if one of them isn’t named as a starter, one (or both) of them will be starting by season’s end.
I’m not positive how the depth chart will shake out, but there’s no doubt that Tennessee has some elite talent along their defensive line.
