Defensive end Derek Barnett and running back Jalen Hurd, Tennessee’s freshmen sensations from a season ago, will be featured on an upcoming over of Athlon Sports.

Barnett, who was an AP All-SEC second team member, set a Vols freshman record last season with 20.5 tackles for loss and ten sacks. Each of Barnett’s ten sacks last season came in conference games.

Hurd began the season as Tennessee’s second string running back, but he quickly took the bulk of the carries from senior running back Marlin Lane.
The Hendersonville led the Vols in rushing with 899 yards. He also caught 35 passes for 221 yards and scored seven total touchdowns.
Butch Jones has done a fantastic job of getting Tennessee back in the national spotlight.
These days it’s not uncommon to see a Vol on the cover of a magazine like Athlon Sports.
If the Vols find the success they’re looking for this season, you’ll likely see even more Orange on national newsstands.
