Kahlil McKenzie Sets Clear Goal For Vols

The impending resurgence of Tennessee football is due in large part because of the improved talent coming to Rocky Top.

But it’s not just the talent that has the Vols on the brink of a return to glory. It’s the attitude of the players that Butch Jones is recruiting to Tennessee.

An example of that is incoming defensive tackle Kahlil McKenzie.

The five-star Vol legacy recently spoke with the Times Free Press in Chattanooga and made it clear that he plans to win a national championship at UT.

From the Times Free Press:

"“I’m trying to help my team win games. That’s my main focus,” he said. “Whatever that means, that’s my only goal for the three or four years I’m in college, to help my team win a national championship. Whatever I can do to make that happen, I’m going to do it.“If that means playing every game, or if that means being scout team — it doesn’t matter. Whatever I can do to help my team win a national championship, that’s what I’m going to do.”"

That kind of winning attitude is what Tennessee has lacked during the past six-seven years.

I’m not saying the players that came before Butch Jones didn’t want to win. In fact, I’m certain that they did want to win.

But they didn’t believe they were capable of winning a national championship. There was never any talk of setting goals that high.

We all know that if you don’t believe you can do it, then you’ll never stand a chance at accomplishing it.

Kahlil McKenzie believes the Vols can win a national championship.

And you know what? I think he might just be right.
