Former Vols wide receiver Robert Meachem is one of several players that are working out for the Detroit Lions this week.

Meachem is a a seven year NFL veteran that has spent most of his career with the New Orleans Saints. Meachem spent one season (2012) with the San Diego Chargers.
The ex-Vol has 178 career receptions for 2,914 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Meachem’s best season as a pro came during his second year in the NFL, when he caught 45 passes for 722 yards and nine touchdowns. His numbers have mostly regressed each season since then.
There’s no doubt that Meachem is an NFL caliber player, but he is not a guy that’s capable of being a starter in the NFL.
At 30 years old, Meachem can still get behind a secondary, but it’s not something he can do on a consistent basis. He’d probably be a good addition for the Lions, but I wouldn’t expect a lot from him in 2015.
