Tennessee Vols athletics will be switching to Nike July 1 after 20 years with Adidas. For the week leading up to the switch, we will recap the Adidas era. Here are the 30 lowest moments for the program in the era.

It has already been made clear that the Adidas Era of Tennessee Volunteer athletics was the best 20-year period. But in reality, that came in spite of the last five years, which altogether could be among the worst.

But to be fair to those five years, there have been plenty of low moments in the athletic department over the past 20 years as a whole during this era. From dramatic football losses to shocking men’s basketball letdowns to possibly the worst story that could hit college sports, Tennessee Vols fans have experienced their shares of suffering.

The good news is that a light appears to be at the end of the tunnel after so many dark days, but, like any road you travel on, low moments still lie ahead.

As we get set to count down the 30 lowest moments in Tennessee Vols athletics during the Adidas era, it needs to be pointed out that these moments are based on the feeling the minute they happened. That means a loss in football in 2014 will not feel as bad as it would have in 1999.

The moments could also go from an individual game to a period of time to a full season. It just depends on the best way to describe them and what deserves to stand on its own.

But every Vol fan can attest that it is not hard to find moments in the athletic program’s history that sting dearly. Here are the Top 30 from the Adidas era.
