Butch Jones Press Conference to Kick Off Preseason
Butch Jones kicked off the Tennessee Vols preseason Monday with a press conference. Here is the video and some of the highlights.
As Butch Jones said, it’s football time in Tennessee. The first week of August means the beginning of preseason, with camp set to start Tuesday and practices right around the corner.
And the Tennessee Volunteer fan base has not been this excited about the upcoming season in a long time.

Jones came in with his pre-camp press conference at Stokeyly Family Media Center at Neyland Stadium, and he began with a bang. He emphasized a changing culture from being a creature of habit, and he did so by jokingly saying the seating assignments for media members needs to change as well.

As Jones said, this is all about building an identity and getting things ready to go.
The biggest piece of news is that Jones said all 13 players who missed spring have been cleared to practice, which means everybody that needs to be healthy is healthy.
The theme for the program is “My All,” according to Jones, meaning “I will give my all for Tennessee today.”
Most of the press conference was cliche Jones quotes, saying things like get one percent better everyday and stressing leadership qualities.
Another one of the highlights was the running back depth, as Jones seems excited about the emergence of Alvin Kamara and the continued improvement of Jalen Hurd.
The backup quarterback situation is also one he plans to focus on this preseason.
With camp set to begin Tuesday, the first practice in pads will be Saturday, Aug. 8, and the first two-a-days will be Tuesday, Aug. 11, according to the preseason schedule on The Tennessean.
It’s annual media day will be Friday, Aug. 14 at Neyland Stadium, and the only Fall open practice to the public will be Saturday, Aug. 15 at 5:50 p.m.
