Tennessee vs. Bowling Green features a dangerous MAC team against a team trying to become elite again. Here are the five keys for the Vols and Falcons each.

The Tennessee Volunteers face a pretty tough test in the Bowling Green Falcons to start the season. It’s not that the Falcons are a team even close to good enough to beat the Vols.

But they have a few strengths that could give the Vols trouble.

More from Vols Football

Being played in Nashville this Saturday, the Vols are working to increase their footprint across the state. It would be a shame if they blew that by laying an egg out on the field Saturday, which Bowling Green has the talent to cause.

As far as the game goes, Bowling Green is extremely strong on one side of the football, but their strength matches the Vols’ biggest strength when it comes to match-ups, which is a good thing.

And where the Vols are supposedly strong, Bowling Green should be extremely weak.

So that means a great chance for Tennessee to dominate this game if they do what they are supposed to do, but if the Falcons can play to their strengths and offset their deficiencies, they will be a much tougher team to beat than we might hope for.

And dare we say they can pull off the upset if a few things happen? Or if Tennessee does not do what it needs to do?

Butch Jones is aware of this having coached in the MAC for three years. And Dino Babers is no slouch as a head coach either, considering his success at Eastern Illinois and his first-year success at Bowling Green last year. This game cannot be taken lightly by the Vols.

Here are the five keys for each team to win this game on Saturday.
