Here are five players on the Tennessee football team to watch for when the Volunteers host the Oklahoma Sooners at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville Saturday.
Now the football season really starts. After a pretty nice and slightly testing tune-up game in a 59-30 victory over the Bowling Green Falcons, the Tennessee Vols will host the Oklahoma Sooners Saturday night.
And you won’t find a fan base hungrier for a win than Tennessee in this situation.

The Vols are not only looking to avenge last year’s 34-10 loss to the Sooners. They are trying to score a big early season victory that actually means something.
In the past two years under Butch Jones, Tennessee has picked up signature victories, but they only counted towards pride. None of them actually counted towards anything important.
A win over Oklahoma would put the Vols in contention to play for everything this year, whereas a loss would mean another year of likely just playing for pride.
So yes, Tennessee has a lot to worry about. This is clearly a different team than the one that got blown out in Norman last year, including the fact that they have a new, mobile quarterback this time.
Also, the one thing that killed the Vols, their own offensive line, should be much better, more experienced, and deeper. That is the best news of the night. Playing at home is another piece of good news.
We will get into the most important factors in the game later. For now, let’s take a look at the individuals who have to have a great game for the Vols to win on Saturday night.
