Tennessee vs. Oklahoma: Sooners Move Up to a -1.5 Favorite Over Vols
The Tennessee vs. Oklahoma football game Saturday went from a -3 line in favor of the Sooners to even. Now, the Volunteers are underdogs again at +1.5.
Perhaps it is the history of Tennessee football over the past seven years. That would be enough for many people who have followed the Vols.
Or perhaps people have realized that Oklahoma is much better than we might have thought. Or maybe people are reading too much into the Vols’ struggles on defense with the Bowling Green Falcons.
Whatever the reason, Vegas has Tennessee back to being an underdog against Oklahoma.

The line for Saturday’s match-up has fluctuated since last weekend, when the Sooners opened up as a -3 point favorite over the Vols. The line very quickly became even, though, and it was officially a pick ’em game.
But now, two days away from the big non-conference match-up, Oklahoma is a -1.5 favorite, according to Odds Shark. So the Vols are back to being an underdog.
To be fair, this might be something Tennessee wants. The last time they were a Top 25 team hosting a Top 25 team, they lost. This was back in 2012 against the Florida Gators.
With such high expectations surrounding the Vols, there is a heck of a lot of pressure. As a result, they could use a little bit of expectation tempering.
If you go by this team’s track record over the past decade-plus, big games and Neyland Stadium are not their thing. And they have got to earn respect once again instead of generating it on paper.
Saturday is their first big chance to do that in a long time, but perhaps this time we should not be picking them to win until they do it. This team has proven that you do not want to bet on them.
And that is probably why the line went back in Oklahoma’s favor.
