This is the first game at Neyland Stadium featuring two Top 25 teams since that Florida game of 2012.
And as desperate and hungry as Tennessee fans are for a big win, Oklahoma fans are not far behind.
Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners had such an atrocious end to last season that they changed up their offense and are looking to right the ship.
Oklahoma will be led on offense by Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon as deadly weapons at running back while Baker Mayfield, a Texas A&M transfer, has stepped in at quarterback to run Lincoln Riley’s air raid offense, the offense that won the Sooners a national title in 2000 and they have returned to this year.
On defense, the Sooners will be led by a dominant front seven, in particular linebacker Eric Striker. Striker gave the Vols hell last year and will look to do the same thing this year.
The Vols, meanwhile, return almost everybody from last year and are much more experienced on offense, starting with a more mobile quarterback in Joshua Dobbs. A strong left side of the offensive line, plenty of weapons at receiver, and an elite rushing attack with Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara are expected to present a very well-rounded offense against the Sooners.
Meanwhile, the defense is supposed to be strongest in the secondary led by superstar cornerback Cam Sutton, but they struggled there a bit last year. Derek Barnett and Curt Maggitt make up an elite pass-rushing duo and will be expected to show up today as well.
Last year a much younger, less experienced, and less deep Tennessee team traveled into Norman with Justin Worley at quarterback only to be blown out by the Sooners 34-10. They will be obviously looking to reverse that this year.
There is some bulletin board material for the Vols as Oklahoma, in particular Stoops and Striker, have spent the week trashing the SEC and talking about how they find the conference and Neyland Stadium overwhelming.
Tennessee is playing not just to prove they are back. They are playing for their home pride and for the SEC as a whole.
