Tennessee Football: Vols Safety LaDarrell McNeil Returns from Injury With an Interception
Tennessee football safety LaDarrell McNeil returned from an injury with an interception Saturday as the Volunteers took on the Western Carolina Catamounts.
Just a couple of weeks ago, he did not know if he was going to ever be able to play football again.
But with a stroke of good fortune, LaDarrell McNeil got the chance to be back on the field Saturday night with the Tennessee Vols taking on the Western Carolina Catamounts.

And he was clearly not going to take his return for granted.
McNeil had an incredible interception to set up a touchdown that gave the Vols a 34-0 lead, and the interception along with the return were both epic.
McNeil is a great story and has earned the right to be starting with the Vols after staying with the program for five years. Two weeks ago, he and Todd Kelly were both gone, which is why the Vols struggled so much in the secondary against Bowling Green.
With both of them back, the strong safety position is set. And the defense is then not a problem.
To see this play was even more heartwarming. McNeil is a huge asset for the Tennessee football team with his veteran leadership and his raw talent. All of that is what this team needs.
And his return is very welcome.
