The Tennessee Volunteers football team beat the WCU Catamounts with ease Saturday night 55-10. Here are their grades on offense, defense, and special teams.

There was nothing too special about the Tennessee Volunteers’ performance against the Western Carolina Catamounts Saturday night, as they were expected to blow out this FCS school.

Therefore, it is hard to gauge just how well each unit performed in the 55-10 victory.

As we grade the offensive, defensive, and special teams performances in Knoxville, these have to be given on a relative basis, meaning that they are obviously going to be judged to a much higher standard against a team like Western Carolina.

Butch Jones and his staff did a very good job helping the Vols rebound from last week’s loss to Oklahoma while keeping them from being distracted from the next game against Florida.

And the team as a whole did a good job of putting the game away early, which is exactly what they needed to do with the Florida Gators on the schedule next.

So for that, this was overall a performance that all of Vol Nation can be happy with.

And plenty of people deserved praise for how they performed too.

Despite a team that it is hard to gauge against, there are clear positions and units that are better than others on Tennessee at this point, as we have noticed it through three games.

Western Carolina just affirmed some of those thoughts based on how Tennessee played on Saturday night, and Vols fans have a better idea of what to expect going into SEC play next week.

So with a blowout victory against an FCS opponent that was never any real trouble, let’s take a look at the grades for each unit on the Tennessee football team in the Vols’ Week Three Report Card.
