Bowling Green Coach Throws Shade at Tennessee, Praises Memphis
Bowling Green Falcons Head Coach Dino Babers suggested the Memphis Tigers are better than the Tennessee Volunteers in football after playing both teams.
So according to Bowling Green head coach Dino Babers, a team his crew lost to in the fourth quarter by three points is better than the team that beat his Falcons by 29 in regulation.
Okay.

The Falcons lost to the Memphis Tigers 44-41 this past weekend after having control for much of the game. Memphis is now 3-0 under Justin Fuente and may be in the midst of their best run in school history.
Meanwhile, they lost to the Tennessee Vols 59-30 in the season opener in Nashville.
However, Babers, according to a report on The Memphis Commercial Appeal, suggested Memphis, not Tennessee, might be the best team in the state.
Here are a couple of quotes from him.
"“I’m not sure Memphis isn’t the best team in their state,” Bowling Green coach Dino Babers said Monday, courtesy of the Toledo Blade.“(Memphis) is a big-time football team — maybe the best team that’s not from a Power Five conference,” Babers said in his postgame press conference Saturday.“Their offensive line is like trees — you hit them and hit them and eventually, you tire out,” he later added."
Maybe Babers feels like his team is much better than when it faced Tennessee. Maybe he feels that it was more difficult of an environment to play Tennessee since that was a road game while Memphis was a home game. Maybe Babers is salty about the lightning delay in Nashville and is telling himself that is why the Vols were able to pull away.
Maybe it is a combination of all three.
Or maybe Babers is one of those bitter Group of Five coaches who just wants to stir the pot by taking shots at Power Five programs.
Whatever the reason, it seems ludicrous to suggest that the Tigers are better than the Vols based on how his team played against both of them.
But he knows he will get credibility for playing both of them, so this just seems like he is stirring the pot.
