Down 24-3 vs. Georgia, Clay Travis Called Tennessee Vols Total Garbage and Butch Jones Defenders Idiots

When the Tennessee Vols were down 24-3 to the Georgia Bulldogs, Clay Travis said the Volunteers are garbage and that Butch Jones defenders are idiots.

This is just a bit of fun trolling.

But after accusing Butch Jones of coaching malpractice two weeks ago and talking last week about how he is soon to be firmly on the hot seat, many times making valid points, Clay Travis of Outkick the Coverage took it to a new level this week.

Travis is no stranger to making premature statements, and as Tennessee went down 24-3 to Georgia, this is exactly what he tweeted.

Ironically, that tweet seemed to have a supernatural effect on Tennessee.

Right after that, they converted two fourth downs, one of which was a completion for a touchdown. Then they forced and recovered a fumble on a kickoff to score another touchdown going into halftime down only one score. And then they tied it up in the second half to make it 24-24, of course eventually winning the game 38-31.

Notice he said nothing after that on Twitter in reference to this tweet.

To be fair, yes this is a bit of trolling. But I actually like Clay Travis. He’s the type of guy any of us writers would aspire to be, so a lot of the trolling we do of him is simply jealousy. I’ll admit that. And it’s not like he deleted that tweet.

But it’s still funny. One thing you can probably take to the bank, though, is that if Clay Travis makes a bold tweet, the opposite will prove true. Remember this?

Demarcus Cousins did a great job calling him out on this, and to be fair, Clay Travis did not hide from it, acknowledging it was well-played by Cousins.

Unlike many people, he won’t hide from anything.

This, however, is hilarious.
