Plenty of Tennessee Volunteers football players were worthy of helmet stickers in their 38-31 win over the Dawgs Saturday. Here are the top five players.

It is crazy how just a few points makes the difference between blaming certain players and hailing others.

On Saturday, the Tennessee Vols finally showed they can win close games by coming back from a 24-3 deficit to beat the Georgia Bulldogs.

And it was a game that may have saved their season.

More from Vols Football

Plenty of people stepped up, from Butch Jones, who had fans calling for his head last week, to Joshua Dobbs, who had fans calling for his benching.

Tennessee finally showed the mental toughness necessary to win a big game, and it was against one of their rivals at that.

One who was in the Top 25 while the Vols were coming off of a two-game losing streak.

The mental toughness of the players and the coaches to fight for that victory said a lot about their character, even though there are still some issues that were exposed and need to be addressed.

But nonetheless, the Vols go into the bye week 3-3 while it could have easily been 2-4, and they have lots of momentum on top of that to show they might have turned a corner.

And there are plenty of players to thank for that.

But we can only give Smokey Points to five of them, so here are the Vols who earned Smokey Points, or our version of helmets stickers, in Tennessee’s stunning victory over Georgia.
