The Third Saturday in October, or once again the fourth, is back. Here are five Volunteers football players to watch in the Tennessee vs. Alabama game.
Is this the year?
Okay, probably not if you play the odds. But hey, anything is possible, right?
We are once again in the Tennessee vs. Alabama rivalry game, and this year the Tide are riding a seven-game winning streak (eight if you count the vacated win).
But many people in Knoxville, with delusions fueled by Yours Truly, actually think the Vols have a chance in this game. There are a few reasons why, one of which is key players for each team.
And Tennessee does have a few players that pose match-up problems for the Tide, which we can get to here.

As we get set to preview the Tennessee-Alabama game, there are a lot of motivating factors for the Vols. Coming off of a huge win against Georgia two weeks ago and then a bye week, Butch Jones and Co. should have found a few sparks that they can fuel going into Saturday’s game.
The Vols have plenty of weapons that need to step up in this game, and while they are certainly not better than Alabama, they have what it takes to pull off the upset if the Tide have an off-day.
And they have certain pieces that are the achilles-heel for the Tide. As such, this is probably the best chance they have had to pull off an upset in this series since 2009.
Two clear weaknesses facing the Tide play right into Tennessee’s hands when you look at the strength of the Vols.
But that strength will only be proven by the players. Here are the five Vols to watch for in this Saturday’s Tennessee vs. Alabama game in Tuscaloosa.
