4. Tennessee Will Win on Special Teams

Last week, against the Texas A&M Aggies, the Alabama Crimson Tide looked absolutely pathetic on special teams. They surrendered a kick-return touchdown that kept Kevin Sumlin’s team in the game, and while their punting and field goal kicking were okay, the return game was overall atrocious.

This week, the same thing could happen.

Butch Jones, to his credit, is one of those coaches who is know for emphasizing special teams, and it has shown.

Evan Berry is one of the best kickoff returners in the country, and Alvin Kamara has now added another element as a punt returner. Expect Tennessee to run at least one back this weekend.

Moving onto kicking, Aaron Medley is still not great, but he is pretty automatic under 40, so there is nothing he can do to hold you back. And he has shown that he has the leg strength to nail field goals beyond 50 yards, he has just got to get the accuracy down. That has got to come at some point.

Heck, it almost came in the Florida game.

But the real story, on top of the return game, is when you get into punting. And there, Tennessee wins without a doubt. Trevor Daniel has been the best punter in college football through six games, and it was his punting that kept the Vols in their three losses and secured that victory over the Georgia Bulldogs.

He will be needed again on Saturday, and his leg will make a huge difference. Special teams favors the Vols.
