2A. Tennessee: Use Joshua Dobbs as Much as Possible
This one is no surprise.
Given what happened last week in their 42-16 loss to the Mississippi State Bulldog, with Dak Prescott throwing for nearly 350 yards and three touchdowns and more than 100 rushing yards and three more touchdowns, a mobile quarterback in a spread offense is clearly the way to destroy the Kentucky Wildcats
But we already knew that given last year. In not even a full game of action, Joshua Dobbs ran for 48 yards and a touchdown and threw for another 297 yards and three touchdowns against Mark Stoops’s Wildcats.
So what do Butch Jones and Mike DeBord need to do?
Turn him loose again.
Dobbs was turned loose against the Florida Gators until Tennessee got a lead and Jones sat on it. He was turned loose against the Georgia Bulldogs and led the Vols back from a 24-3 deficit to win 38-31.
And against Alabama, with a young offensive line and going up against an elite defense, he did everything he could possibly do to try to win that game despite no help from his receivers either.
So Jones should let Dobbs be Dobbs again in this game. Kentucky will have no answer for him, and he should be able to go for another 300-plus total yards.
Tennessee has no reason not to get in the 40s in scoring with Dobbs’s play. The biggest thing Kentucky can do to give him trouble has nothing to do with what’s on the field. And that brings us to our next key.
