Here are the five Tennessee Volunteers football players who earned helmet stickers, or Smokey Points, for their performances against the Mean Green.

It’s safe to call this a hideous and ugly football game. Nonetheless, the Tennessee Vols still beat the North Texas Mean Green 24-0, pitching a shutout in one of the greatest defensive performances in school history.

Meanwhile, despite serious issues in the passing game on offense due to injuries and a simple lack of focus, the running game stepped up and carried the offense.

But overall, this was an ugly game with a team that was lethargic from start to finish. Even the fans were lethargic.

Many of them were filing out of Neyland Stadium when it was only a 17-0 football game late in the third quarter.

And only leading the worst defense in college football 17-0 at that point was an ugly look on its own, even if the Mean Green did everything to milk the clock.

Despite all of that, the Vols got the win and moved to 6-4 on the season, and we have got to give credit where credit is due.

There were still plenty of football players who stepped up in big ways on Saturday and deserve credit for their performances.

This is especially true on defense, but a couple of offensive guys showed up and deserve credit for how they played as well.

There will be plenty of coverage on all of the struggles. But here we will look at the bright spots. These are the five players for the Vols who performed admirably against North Texas, earning our version of helmet stickers: Smokey Points.
