Here are the five Tennessee Volunteers football players who earned helmet stickers in their 19-8 victory over Gary Pinkel’s Tigers of Mizzou Saturday.

There is no need for the Vols to apologize for the ugliness in their 19-8 victory over the Missouri Tigers on the road.

Given the emotion behind Gary Pinkel retiring, the school’s determination to become bowl-eligible, and the momentum behind the recent turmoil on campus, Tennessee had every reason to lose the psychological battle.

But they not only won, they covered the spread. And against a team that makes every game ugly, they neutralized the best assets of the Tigers.

There were plenty of players who played a huge role in helping move the Vols to 7-4 Saturday, and the coaching staff was as helpful as any of them. Butch Jones, Mike DeBord, and John Jancek had a great game plan knowing what they were in for.

And they executed that game plan to perfection. It also allowed for certain players to step up and shine.

The depth of the Vols really showed on the offensive line and on defense, and the most important stat of the night: no turnovers.

But only five can get Smokey Points. So here are the top Vols who earned helmet stickers for their performance against Missouri.
