Kansas City Chiefs star and former Tennessee Volunteers football player Eric Berry was ranked the best safety in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.
Next: Evan Berry Joins Brother Eric as UT All-American
It has been a crazy year for Eric Berry. In the past year since the sixth-year safety was struck with Hodgkin Lymphoma on Dec. 8, 2014 and had to miss the end of that season, he has been a winner everywhere.
The safety was first a winner by beating the cancer.
Then he became a winner by getting back onto the football field and resuming his starting position.
Berry won again by not just getting back on the field, but performing well. For the year he has 49 tackles and two interceptions along with eight passes deflected while helping the Chiefs to a 7-5 record, putting them in playoff contention.
And now, his streak as a winner has him recognized for more than just being a guy who beat cancer.
The former two-time All-American at Tennessee under two different coaches has now been ranked by Pro Football Focus as the best safety in the NFL, according to a Chiefs report from BJ Kissel.

A true strong safety, Berry is clearly one of the most complete players on the football field, as he has shown time and time again. As a result, he can also play free safety, and sometimes he just plays “center field” according to reports.
The guy knows how to be in on every play, and as a three-time pro-bowler already, he continues to add to his accomplishments.

Now, just entering his prime, the best may be yet to come for this guy. His story is already remarkable, and it could only get better over time if he stays healthy.
Vols fans could not be prouder of one of the greatest representatives their football team ever had. It only helps this great week that his brother, Evan Berry, was named as a UT All-American.
