Tennessee football roster: Projecting the Vols’ 2017 2-deep depth chart
Tennessee football is now in summer workouts. Here is a projection of how the Volunteers’ 2017 two-deep roster will look when the season begins.
Tennessee football’s summer has begun, and the spring is well in the rearview mirror. Despite the end of spring practice and a ton of returning talent, however, the Vols’ 2017 depth chart remains a complete mystery.
With a slew of injuries last year, some early departures, the loss of key players, and numerous staff changes, everything is up in the air.
Part of those changes, by the way, includes a new offensive coordinator in Larry Scott. So Scott is new and has to deal with so many things up in the air.

Still, using the information we have, we will try to take a look at what we think the Tennessee football depth chart is going to look like when the season kicks off on Labor Day in Atlanta against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The biggest question regarding the depth chart may be at quarterback. And that’s a battle that needs to be settled with a clear-cut top two. Meanwhile, there are some clear favorites elsewhere that we will also discuss.
But with the new crop of freshmen yet to enroll, it’s still impossible to see how everything will shake out.
And there are plenty of other positions with major questions.
Offensive line is also up in the air despite four returning starters, as is the wide receiver rotation to a degree.
And outside linebacker and secondary spots are a complete mystery. The defensive line is not settled either.
We’ll dive into all of those here. This is a way-too-early prediction of the 2017 Tennessee football depth chart.
