The Vols will face the Indiana State Sycamores at 4 p.m. on the SEC Network. The channel released its schedule for the first three weeks of the season on Tuesday.
The game will follow Eastern Kentucky Colonels and Kentucky Wildcats. That game is scheduled for noon E.T. and features former Vols tight ends coach Mark Elder as head coach of the Colonels.
Following the Vols game is Northern Colorado at the Florida Gators at 7:30 p.m.
There are other games on the network that day as well, but they are on alternate channels. This includes UT Martin at the Ole Miss Rebels at noon, a game with even less luster now than it had a week ago, Alabama A&M at the Vanderbilt Commodores the same time as the Vols-Sycamores game, and UT Chattanooga at the LSU Tigers the same time as the Florida-Northern Colorado game.
Indiana State is probably the least exciting game for the Vols with the UMASS Minutemen a close second. The Southern Miss Golden Eagles follow both of them and come in as the third least exciting game.
The fact that the game is on SEC Network and not the Alternate channel is good news for many Tennessee football fans.

There’s a chance, now, that they won’t be on the Alternate channel for any game this year. And that’s definitely preferable. Nonetheless, now Vols fans know when and on what channel their team’s first three games are.
