Tennessee football’s 2017 preseason is about to begin. The Volunteers have set the schedule for their camp heading into the season.

The 2017 season is just around the corner. And Tennessee football is getting started a bit earlier than usual entering Butch Jones’s fifth year.
Less than a month and a half before the start of the season, the Vols released their tentative preseason camp schedule.

According to Ryan Callahan of GoVols247, school officials announced the schedule Tuesday afternoon.
Things begin with Butch Jones’s pre-practice press conference on Friday, 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Then, the Vols will hold their first practice on Saturday at 3 p.m. E.T.
They are scheduled to hold 20 practices overall.
On top of that, the Vols are set to hold their preseason media day Aug. 13.
Starting the preseason in July is a bit premature compared to previous years, but this year’s preseason is more important as well.
After all, Tennessee is breaking in a new quarterback and has a battle going on between Jarrett Guarantano and Quinten Dormady.
They also have a new offensive coordinator in Larry Scott, who was promoted from tight ends coach.
As a result, they have quite a bit of work to do.
That may be why they’re starting early. This will be the most interesting Tennessee football preseason under Butch Jones really since his first year. And it may be more interesting.
After all, he’s slightly on the hot seat. On top of that, the Vols are breaking in a new quarterback and have numerous new staff members.
So fans and analysts will want to heavily pay attention to what happens during camp. And that makes this offseason very intriguing.
