Tennessee football recruiting: Vols score huge commitment in 4-star 2018 DB Jaycee Horn
Tennessee football recruiting picked up another huge commitment Thursday. Four-star 2018 defensive back Jaycee Horn of Georgia picked the Volunteers.
Butch Jones scored another victory Thursday night for Tennessee football. With a 2018 recruiting class already in the top 5, the Vols got a huge splash commitment to add to it. And this one had a bit of a familiar feel.
Jaycee Horn, the son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, announced his commitment to Tennessee Thursday night. He is the 23rd commitment for the Tennessee football recruiting class, the second commitment this week and the fifth commitment this month.
Horn, who picked the Vols over the South Carolina Gamecocks and made his announcement live in the SEC Country studio.

A four-star on Rivals, Horn’ familiar feel is due to the fact that he is an Alpharetta, Ga. native. Recently departed Tennessee football quarterback Josh Dobbs also came from Alpharetta.
With five seniors in the secondary this year, Butch Jones has made sure to load up there for the future. And Horn is his fourth defensive back commitment, the third four-star of the group, showing Jones is doing just that.
At 6’1″ and 170 pounds, the services list Horn as a cornerback, which is likely where he’ll play in college. Here’s a look at his highlight reel.
As you can see, the guy is an amazing combination. In addition to solid height as a corner, he loves to be physical and enjoys running up to make tackles. But he also has incredible speed and can read quarterbacks easily to make interceptions.
His ability to play man coverage and break up passes over the middle is an incredibly unique skill.
Now, of course, all of his skills are up for debate, and how well they translate to the next level depends on how well he can handle quarterbacks with more accuracy and zip who don’t so easily telegraph their passes.
But for now, he’s a huge pickup for Butch Jones and the Tennessee football program.
