The impact of Jeremy Pruitt’s late push with the Tennessee football program showed at least in the morning of the early National Signing Day. The Vols got two commitments from four-stars who are teammates just outside of Memphis.

Cordova High School prospects Jerome Carvin and Jeremy Banks both announced their commitment to the Vols Wednesday morning. It was a huge boost for Pruitt’s recruiting class, which entered the day ranked outside of the Top 60 on Rivals.

Carvin was the splash get of the pair. A four-star offensive tackle, the guy stands at 6’4″ 305 pounds. He is the No. 19 ranked offensive lineman nationally on Rivals and the No. 8 ranked player in the state of Tennessee.

Given the Vols’ injuries on the offensive line this past year, the pickup of Carvin is a huge boost for Tennessee football. He adds even more depth to Pruitt’s first team.

Meanwhile, Banks is not far behind as a splash pickup. A four-star running back on Rivals, the guy is the No. 9 ranked player in the state and the No. 16 ranked player overall at his position.

Standing at 6’2″ 210 pounds, this makes for two years in a row the Vols got a major commit from an in-state running back. And Banks is a great pickup.

His commitment alone pushed the Vols close to the Top 50 on Rivals again, and you have to figure Carvin’s commitment will move them up even further. What’s clear is that Pruitt is finally making his impact on the Tennessee football recruiting class.

Neither of these guys would have signed with the Vols if it were not for Pruitt, so this was a great first impression. And he’s doing this while simultaneously having to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide’s defense in the College Football Playoff.
