NFL Draft: 5 best landing spots for Rashaan Gaulden
The Detroit Lions were a decent team last season and actually was in the playoff hunt in December but the lack of a running game, which was near the bottom of the league. In fact, the rushing attack was last in the league by producing only 76.3 rushing yards per game.
The pass defense was not better and was another part of the team that kept the Lions out of the playoffs. They could not stop anyone. They ranked 6th worst in the league by giving up 243.2 passing yards a game.
However, the Lions do have some talent in the secondary but it is becoming thinner as the days go by it seems, and that is a position they will have to work on in the NFL Draft.
What defensive backs are on the Lions roster?
This group is led by Darius Slay (Mississippi State), and he has been an absolute workhorse and leader for the Lions the past couple of years. He started in all 16 games for Detroit and had 60 total tackles with 26 pass deflections.
Others at the position include Jamal Agnew (San Diego), Nevin Lawson (Utah State), DeShawn Shead (Portland State), Teez Tabor (Florida), Quandre Diggs (Texas), and Raysean Pringle (Southern Utah).
What picks do the Lions have?
The Lions have draft picks in rounds three, four, and five which is where Gaulden would fall in the NFL Draft.
It is a pretty safe bet that Gaulden will be on an NFL team next season. He will be able to bring a tough competitive nature to the Lions. Vol fans know well that, Teez Tabor got burnt by Jauan Jennings, but he plays with passion and would be a good fit with Gaulden to develop lockdown islands on both corners.
