Tennessee football recruiting: 4-star 2019 safety Anthony Harris commits to Vols
Tennessee football scored another huge pickup for 2019 Friday. The Volunteers received a commitment from four-star North Carolina safety Anthony Harris.
Jeremy Pruitt and Tennessee football remain red hot on the recruiting trail. It’s almost as if that Gridiron Now article back in May claiming he was struggling set off the opposite effect. Since then, the Vols have picked up four commitments, and three have been four-stars.
The fourth commitment came Friday. Safety Anthony Harris announced his commitment to the Vols, according to Austin Price of Volquest.
Harris, a four-star on Rivals, is a North Carolina prospect. He comes from Havelock High School in Havelock, a town in the eastern part of the state near the coast.

With his commitment, Tennessee football now has nine commitments for 2019, and five of them are four-stars. They already had a Top 25 recruiting class before Harris selected UT, and this is all from a program that just finished the year 4-8 and fired its coach.
Also, Harris is the first defensive back in the class. He fielded offers from major schools like the Clemson Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, North Carolina Tar Heels, N.C. State Wolfpack, Virginia Tech Hokies and West Virginia Mountaineers. So his commitment is obviously a huge pickup.
At 6’2″ 165 pounds, Harris has played both sides of the ball at different times in high school. Here is a look at his highlight reel.
As you can see, he can take long strides when running and has great breakaway speed. On top of that, he is very physical, showing his willingness to block and tackle at different times. He can line up at receiver, running back and defensive back.
Simply put, Harris is a huge pickup for Tennessee football as an athlete. He gives the Vols another major weapon to look forward to.
