No. 5 – November 24th at Vanderbilt

I know what you’re thinking. There are much better teams that the Vols will play this year than Vanderbilt. And, to be honest, that would be true.

More from All for Tennessee

Vandy shouldn’t have much talent on the field. However, they never really have and yet since own the Tennessee football program. When I say “own” that might be an understatement. In the last six seasons, Vandy has won four times. And, if that isn’t bad enough, they have won in back-to-back seasons.

Having Jeremy Pruitt on board should get Tennessee fans excited about playing and beating Vandy again.  Did you ever think there would be a time when Vanderbilt would have a two-game winning streak against Tennessee football?

I’ll answer that for everyone, uh, no. In fact, before the 2012 and 2013 seasons, you have to go back to 1920’s to see Vanderbilt win back-to-back games against Vols. That just shows how far the program has declined in the past decade.

From 1983 to 2004 the Vols held a 22 game winning streak against the Commodores. And, maybe it won’t happen next season, but eventually, Pruitt will have the Vols back as the best football team in the state of Tennessee.

Vanderbilt gets the fifth slot and fans should be excited for the game on November 24th. You never know, it might be a must-win game for the Vols to become bowl eligible.
