The old saying, the rich keep on getting richer is coming true with the Vols recruiting. The class of 2019 is shaping up to be a good one for the program.

First-year head coach, Jeremy Pruitt is settling in just fine when it comes to recruiting for the Tennessee football program. After getting on the job late last offseason, Pruitt and staff threw together a top 20 class for the 2018 season.

What Pruitt was able to do with limited time on the job is rather impressive. Names like wide receiver Alontae Taylor, defensive tackle, Greg Emerson, and defensive end, Jordan Allen should see some playing time in their first year on campus.

So, far Pruitt and staff have carried that same success into the 2019 recruiting class. With the most recent signing of pro-style quarterback, Brian Maurer the Vols moved into the 17th position in the overall rankings and 9th in the SEC.

Bold prediction here but I think the Vols could undoubtedly make this a top ten class by the time it’s all said and done.

Five-star offensive tackle, Wanya Morris leads the class as the 24th ranked recruit in the nation according to 247Sports.

Another big-time recruit is Ramel Keyton, a four-star wide receiver from guess where, the state of Georgia. Keyton is ranked as the 163rd recruit in the nation.

Here’s why we think Tennessee has a good chance of having a top ten class in 2019. Number one, it’s Tennessee, and Butch Jones had top ten classes. If he can do it, surely Pruitt can.

Seriously though, at the current moment, the Vols only have 12 players committed for the class. With only 12 players and to be as high as 17th is pretty good.

And, as you take a look at a couple of teams ahead of the Vols, you’ll notice that they have more players committed. Take the South Carolina Gamecocks just two spots higher. They have a total of 15 players in the 2019 class thus far.

Right above them, coming in at 14th is the Ole Miss Rebels. Now, how they are that high, we have no clue. The Rebels must have boosters with some deep pockets.

But, they also have 20 players already committed. And, if you’re like Alabama fans and have a hard time counting, that’s eight more than the Vols.

Just one last example, the Miami Hurricanes sit at number 13 and have 16 players committed. Which, obviously is four more than the Vols.

If Pruitt and staff can continue to recruit at the success they are now the 2019 class could easily be top ten. Hard to push it any higher with teams like Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. However top ten is doable, and Vol fans should sit back and get ready to see it come to fruition.
