Projected backups

1. Jeremy Banks; Freshman; 6’2″ 210 lbs; Cordova, Tenn.

More from Vols Football

Jeremy Banks is a reason the power running game for Tennessee football has depth. And he’s why the Vols were able to add Madre London as a graduate transfer. Banks was a four-star in-state power back who committed to Jeremy Pruitt and Tyson Helton. He can spell London this year with very valuable minutes before becoming the feature guy next year. It’s the perfect situation.

2. Tim Jordan; Sophomore; 5’11” 196 lbs; Bartow, Fla.

Tim Jordan picked up the system last year more quickly than any of the other running backs, which means he’s the perfect guy to be the speedy back under Tennessee football’s new staff. This part isn’t as confirmed yet, but Jordan appears to be primed and ready to be the backup lightning guy. So he and Jeremy Banks will make the four-man rotation that Pruitt said he was looking for.

3. Trey Coleman; Sophomore; 5’11” 214 lbs; West Monroe, La.

Back to the power guys, Trey Coleman was also able to pick up parts of the Tennessee football system last year. He’s in a new system that fits him, so he’ll provide valuable depth here. But if there are no injuries, you could see a redshirt.

4. Princeton Fant; Freshman; 6’3″ 216 lbs; Nashville, Tenn.

Princeton Fant has already taken a redshirt and is another power back. But the Vols need more of those in this new system than speedy guys. Still, he’ll be down here in the depth chart for this year as he picks up the nuances of playing running back after converting all over the field. At least he’ll bring more depth to the situation.
