Everybody we have mentioned so far is fighting to be in a rotation or already is in one. However, Dominick Wood-Anderson is a guy who figures to be a starter for Tennessee football, and he could become a huge playmaker for the Vols.

More from Vols Football

Billy Williford wrote on our site recently that Wood-Anderson could be a top offensive target. At 6’4″ 257 pounds, the four-star tight end was coveted heavily by Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. So he was a huge steal for Jeremy Pruitt and Tyson Helton.

In 2017, he had 31 receptions for 258 yards and two touchdowns with Arizona Western Community College. He was there for two years and was obviously a teammate of Jahmir Johnson’s last year.

Wood-Anderson’s value, which makes him atop the list, is that he’s clearly the most talented player at his position. Now, he has to compete with Eli Wolf for the No. 1 tight end spot. But given the system we know that Helton and Pruitt want to run, using multiple tight ends and lining at least one up at fullback lots of the time, there’s not as much competition as you would think.

Given his size, Wood-Anderson would figure to be the primary blocking tight end to complement Wolf as the receiving tight end. The two together will become a major force for the Vols this year, and Wood-Anderson has the most potential.

A four-star junior college recruit, Wood-Anderson is a complete tight end. It’s going to be hard to overlook him, and he’s definitely the top impact JuCo player for Tennessee football this year. He is at a position that allows him a chance to play more immediately given the system and the depth chart there, and he is as talented as anybody else in the class. So he belongs at No. 1.
