No.5 – Jerry Jeudy, Wide receiver

Coming in at number five on our list is Sophomore wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. He didn’t account for a lot of production last season but his year has been a different story. He seems like a new player under quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the whole team does.

Jeudy leads the team in receptions, receiving yards, average per receptions, and touchdowns. He has 26 receptions on 705 receiving yards with nine touchdowns.

More from All for Tennessee

Jeudy has accounted for three 100-yard games in seven games. More impressive, he has four double-digit touchdown games with season.

Jeudy vs. Vols’ Alontae Taylor should be one of the best matchups of the game. Pro Football Focus ranks Taylor as one of the sixth best cornerbacks in the nation when it comes to fewest yards allowed per coverage snap among Power 5 cornerbacks.

1. David Long, Michigan – 0.15

2. Julius Brents, Iowa – 0.23

3. Maurice Smitherman, Mississippi State – 0.26

4. Innis Gaines, TCU – 0.30

5. Derrick Baity Jr., Kentucky – 0.38

6. Alontae Taylor, Tennessee – 0.41

Taylor has been locking down one side of the field this season, as a freshman. It doesn’t get easier on the other side with Bryce Thompson; he is playing just as good.

It will be interesting to see if the young cornerbacks can stall the receiver core and make a game of the Third Saturday in October.
