John Fulkerson – Average five rebounds a game

We all saw the production John Fulkerson can give the Vols his freshman season. That was when he was healthy. In the 2016 Maui Invitational, Fulkerson played 37 minutes against Oregon where he scored 12 points and added ten rebounds in a 69-65 loss in overtime.

Fulkerson put together back-to-back games against Chaminade and Georgia Tech where he scored 20 points and added 16 rebounds. But, we haven’t seen that same performance from Fulkerson.

I know he wasn’t healthy but last season, but he didn’t look great. At times, you had to wonder why he was even playing. Look, I’m not knocking Fulkerson, there might not be a player on the team that hustles more than him.

That’s why the goal Fulkerson should achieve is averaging five rebounds per game. With the extra minutes he is logging and the effort he gives on every play there isn’t a reason why he can’t average five boards.

However, if he wants to play, he has to stop turning the ball over. No, he doesn’t lead the team in turnovers, but with as little, he has the ball he turns it over too much. Again, that could be because he hasn’t been 100 percent healthy. It will be interesting to see how Fulkerson’s season plays out.
