1. Being Tennessee’s offensive coordinator gives Hugh Freeze a chance to stand out.
If Hugh Freeze becomes Tennessee football’s offensive coordinator, he’ll inherit the proper personnel to put up gaudy stats in most of his games for 2019. After all, Jarrett Guarantano can throw, and the Vols have amazing weapons at receiver.

Should that happen, Freeze will get a ton of credit. And if he wants a head coaching job at a big-time program, he needs to be the guy that gets the credit for a turnaround. That will only happen to him on Rocky Top.
As we said, everybody knows that Jeremy Pruitt is a defensive mind. If he goes to the Alabama Crimson Tide, he’ll be just another Saban assistant. And he’ll only be doing what Mike Locksley already did.
On top of that, no team he’s in the running to join was worse offensively than the Vols this past year. But, like we said, they do have personnel and a much easier schedule. So should he benefit from those things and turn the offense around dramatically, he’ll once again get a ton of credit as an offensive genius.
Only with the Florida State Seminoles could he have the same effect. However, with Willie Taggart as an offensive mind and FSU a bit higher in their total offensive ranking than the Vols, he wouldn’t get as much credit for a turnaround as he would with the Vols. And Liberty was moderately successful enough this year to believe that Freeze inherited a good situation.
So if Freeze wants to take an easy situation to turn around and stand out doing it in the process, Tennessee football should be his top landing spot. It’s the perfect position for him to resurrect his career in every way. So whatever the holdup is, it needs to end. The Vols and Freeze would both benefit in huge ways if they joined in 2019.
