Different names start to pop up the longer the Tennessee football offensive coaching search last. One name Jeremy Pruitt should not entertain is Ruch Propst.

Another year and another coaching search for the Tennessee football program. I don’t have to tell you what’s going on in Knoxville, by now on day 123 of the coaching search, we all know have a decent idea of what’s going on. Or do we?

Option A, Jeremey Pruitt has his guy, and for some reason, he is waiting to announce the name to the public. It could be the coaching is currently under contract and is still coaching, example Freddie Kitchens from the Cleveland Browns. The two have never coached together, but there were some rumblings last season that Kitchens would join the staff before Pruitt went in the direction of Tyson Helton.

However, Kitchens looks like a longshot since his recent success with Baker Mayfield and the Browns. Who knows what happens with that organization but now people know Kitchens name and who he can do. My guess he stays in the NFL.

Maybe it’s Mike Yurcich, Oklahoma State’s offensive coordinator. This doesn’t mean much, but Yuricich did tell Robert Allen from GoPokes.com that nothing was going on with Tennessee.

Option B, Pruitt, and Fulmer have swung and missed on a few candidates, and now they have no clue what direction they need to go in now. They shot their best shot with the big names and missed. Now even the middle tier of guys have found other jobs, which has left Tennessee with their hands in the air.

Personally, I want to believe it’s option A. No way Fulmer and Pruitt have messed this search up so bad, right? Honestly, who knows. And, honestly, who knows who are even realize candidates.

If Tennessee feels like they are at the bottom of the barrel, they still can’t entertain the idea of Rush Propst as offensive coordinator. For the folks who aren’t familiar with Propst, he was the head coach at Hoover High School from the years 1999-2007. During his tenure at Hoover, Propst won 110 with five state titles, which is rather impressive.

Hoover High School and Propst were apart of the MTV hit show Two-A-Days which took most of the country by storm. That’s how most of us were introduced to Jeremy Pruitt.

There is no doubt that Prost is one heckuva of a football coach. However, there is no reason he should get the offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee. Not to mention the baggage he would bring with him. And, Tennessee fans are all about not hiring anyone with baggage.

Of course, there will always be rumors, but as the head coach of Hoover, there was speculation that his football players were getting better grades than they should have gotten to get into college. And, then there was the off of field issues with his wife and his mistress.

If the Vols are going to go that route, former Maryville High School coach George Quarles should get a look. Quarles built one of the best sports dynasties in America. He became the fastest high school coach to reach 200 wins and had an overall record of 250-16 with 11 state titles at Maryville.

dark. Next. 5 possible reasons Vols OC hire has taken so long

Put simply if Tennessee is in the position to hire Rush Propst as their offensive coordinator they should give George Quarles a chance. As human beings we all have baggage, but Quarles seems to live a quiet life. I’ve also seen first hand the offensive genius he is. However, neither guy would make the fanbase happy.
