Let’s not confuse the situation, Georgia isn’t a good basketball team. They are in their first year with a new head coach and with a roster that isn’t necessarily loaded with talent. However, it always seems like the Bulldogs always find a way to be a pest.
And, Hammonds can be a real thorn in the side of any team he plays.
With the departure of Yaten Maten who was a special talent averaging nearly 20 points per game last season, Hammonds has taken his game to another level.
He is only averaging one more minute per game this season but has taken on a great offensive role and is really taking advantage of getting up more shots. Hammonds is scoring around 15 points per game by shooting 54.7 percent from the field.
It’s a small sample size, but Hammonds has also improved his three-point percentage almost 20 percent and his free-throw percentage 13 percent.
Georiga is the first test for the Vols in conference play, so I don’t believe there is a chance for a letdown. However, if Hammonds gets going, it could be a closer game than most might think.
