Early bracketology projections show Tennessee basketball receiving a high seed in the NCAA Tournament. Here is a look at a few predictions around the nation.

It’s just the beginning of 2019, and the college football season just ended. If you missed the National Championship Game last night, you missed Alabama getting absolutely rolled. Check out this post from fellow editor, Caleb Calhoun, on how the Vols had a part in Clemson’s success and one of the reasons they won the National Championship.

Some Vol fans will relish the Alabama loss for a while, but most will and should turn their attention to the NCAA Tournament which is approaching fast.

March seems so far away. However, it’s never too early to talk about the projections for the big dance. And, for Vol fans, for once their team is the talk of the nation and is receiving high praise from national media.

We start with ESPN’s bracketology expert, Joe Lunardi. The long-time college hoops specialist has the Vols as the number two seed in East region which was updated on January 4th. Their first game would be in Jacksonville, FL which would be an easy travel site for Volnation.

Other teams apart of the region are Duke (1), Oklahoma (3), Ohio State (4), and Mississippi State (5).

Lunardi is usually spot on with his projections. Tennessee receiving the two seed makes a lot of sense because they are one of the best teams in the nation. However, he did have Kansas as a number one seed but since have a loss to Iowa State.

Jerry Palm of CBS hasn’t updated his projections since December 17th, but at the time he had the Vols as the number one seed in the West region. Other teams apart of the region were Nevada (2), North Carolina (3), and Arizona State (4).

This shouldn’t surprise anyone; even last season Palm was huge on the SEC, notably Tennessee and Auburn.

Finally, the Washington Post just published an article earlier today projecting the Vols as the number one seed in the West region.

As it stands, everyone should agree that Tennessee is no lower than a three seed in the NCAA Tournmanet. If the Vols continue to play on the level they are, we could be seeing the overall number one seed beside their name.
