No.3 – 17.5 point winning margin

It’s no surprise that the Vols have started SEC play 3-0. We all know about the potential of being in a hunt for a National Championship come March. However, what we didn’t see coming, or at least I didn’t, was the 17.5-point winning margin the past two games on the road.

More from All for Tennessee

Tennessee started the week with an 87-63 win over at Missouri. The Tigers led 19-10 midway through the first half, and every Vol fan was thinking, “not this again, not another loss to Cuonzo Martin.”

But, as you well know, thanks to Jordan Bowden (more on him later) and Lamonte Turner, the Vols went on a 10-0 run to regain the lead. In fact, Tennessee ended the half on a 32-12 run and started pulling away in the second half.

The Florida game had a different feel. The Gators did a great job making Tennessee uncomfortable running their offense. And, it helped Florida hit nine three-point shots in the first half. However, just like most games this season, somehow Tennessee fought back and ended up winning.

It was a two-point game with around a minute to go; it appeared the team that made the last stop was going to win. However, that changed thanks to an Admiral Schofield three and a Jordan Bowden dunk that increased the lead to 11 points.

The past two games, the Vols have a 17.5-point winning margin against conference foes. If you add the Georgia game, Tennessee won by 46 points; they have a 27-point winning margin in SEC play.

I can’t imagine they can keep up that level of play. However, all season long I’ve said this team is too good to be true. Honestly, nothing would surprise me.
