Tennessee football: How former Vols played in NFC, AFC championships
His team may have lost thanks to the worst no-call in sports history. That’s just another way Alvin Kamara gets robbed. It’s either that or not getting enough playing time, which was his issue with Butch Jones and the Tennessee football program.

However, Kamara still had the best day of any former Vol in the conference championship games. For a while, it seemed pretty obvious he would be in position to be last year’s Derek Barnett, who won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, continuing the success of the 2017 Vols NFL Draft class.
In the New Orleans Saints’ 26-23 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Kamara had only 8 carries for 15 yards, but he added 11 receptions for 96 yards. The guy also had 119 kickoff return yards on four attempts, including a 34-yard kickoff return. So once again, he found ways to be incredibly effective.
And he helped New Orleans build a 13-0 lead. But they weren’t able to maintain it because of that officiating and a few mistakes by Drew Brees late. As a result, Kamara is going home early once again, suffering a heartbreaker for the second straight year.
However, we can’t ignore his play, as the guy had 111 total yards from scrimmage and 230 yards overall if you want to count kickoff returns. He keeps finding ways to be effective, so he’ll likely be just as good next year.
