Tennessee football: Remembering Tee Martin’s 10 greatest games played with Vols
October 23, 1999 – (Third Saturday in October)
Bryant Denny Stadium; Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Moving away from the 1998 National Championship season for a minute, the 1999 Third Saturday in October was a top-15 matchup. The Crimson Tide was looking for redemption from the 35-18 beatdown the year before. However, the game didn’t go the way they had planned.

The eventual SEC Champs only had one loss when the Vols rolled into Tuscaloosa, which was a weird 29-28 loss to Louisiana Tech.
This would mark the last game of Tee Martin’s career against a home-state team, and he didn’t disappoint. It was a dominating team-effort after falling behind 7-0 Martin left the game in the second quarter due to an injury.
He showed a lot of grit by coming back in the game and leading Tennessee to a 21-7 win. Tee finished the game with 49 rushing yards with two rushing touchdowns and threw for another one with147 yards on 11-of-17 attempts.
You could argue that the Vols would have won without Martin because of their dominant defense that held Shaun Alexander under 100 yards rushing. The win gave Tennessee 16 straight wins over SEC West opponents which is an accomplishment that Martin and the 1999 squad can be proud of.
