It’s no secret that Tennessee football’s most desperate need was on the offensive line this year. But most notably was how they suffered at offensive tackle, where Jeremy Pruitt’s program was hit with a string of bad luck.
The Vols saw blood clots return to Trey Smith last year midway through the season. Their best tackle had to step away from the game as a result, and we still don’t know when, or if, he is going to be able to return.
Meanwhile, Drew Richmond, their other tackle, is now transferring. Chance Hall, a guy who could’ve played tackle, has now had to give up football because of so many injuries that have been nagging him since 2016.
That leaves a huge opening at tackle, and this is where Wanya Morris comes in. One of the earlier commitments to the Vols, Morris is a four-star on Rivals. But he was once a five-star and is a five-star across numerous other services.
At 6’6″ 285 pounds, Morris will likely be up to 300 by the time 2019 arrives, but it’s his agility that makes him a prospect with such great position. His height makes him a perfect candidate to be one of the guys in the rotation and maybe even a starter.
