2. There are elite, proven recruiters all over the Vols’ staff.

Tennessee football had this last year, but it got better with their offseason staff changes. Jeremy Pruitt brought in three new guys as Vols assistants, and two of them are among the most proven recruiters in the nation.

More from Vols Football

The most notable one is Tee Martin. Here you have a Vol for Life who was twice up for National Recruiter of the Year with the USC Trojans, won it once, and is known for being able to go national. Once a national championship winning quarterback, recruiting is his strong suit. He should immediately have an impact on the Vols.

Then there’s Derrick Ansley. Ansley replaced Charles Kelly and Terry Fair in coaching the secondary, and to be honest, he’s a much better recruiter than both of them. While coaching with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ansley secured nine blue-chip recruits. That’s an incredible number and is a huge boost for the Vols.

Adding those two guys to the guys on staff makes this unit elite as a whole. Brian Niedermeyer was just named National Recruiter of the Year by 247Sports this past year, returns as tight ends coach for the Vols.

Then, finally, you have Jeremy Pruitt, the head coach. He won National Recruiter of the Year with Alabama back in 2012. So you have two recruiter of the year assistants, one who is a head coach, and another who is proven to be elite at the job.

Simply put, it’s impossible to see the Vols struggling to get top-notch talent with all these recruiters on their staff. The unit is even better this year than it was last year with the addition of Martin and Ansley. And, by the way, the name Jim Chaney as offensive coordinator is probably enough to lure some other top-notch talent. These guys all bring more than recruiting prowess too. That leads to our final point.
