Tier 1

More from Vols Football

Murfreesboro , Tenn.

Redshirt senior Jauan Jennings is Tennessee football’s go-to receiver and from Murfreesboro. The only thing holding the  from not being on the list is the dispute of the second guy from the area. Maleik Gray, a redshirt sophomore defensive back is from La Vergne, Tenn., but La Vergne is barely Murfreesboro. It could be considered more Nashville, which knocks it off the list.

Charlotte, N.C.

In the future, Charlotte, N.C. could make the list. After all, it has two four-star recruits who committed to Tennessee football in 2019 in linebacker Quavaris Crouch and defensive back Tyus Fields. But that’s all they are right now. Until proven talent is returning, this North Carolina metro area won’t make the list.

San Francisco Bay Area

One recruit in four-star Henry To’oto’o and one returning player in outside linebacker Jordan Allen make up the Bay Area. However, the Bay Area encompasses multiple metro areas. To’oto’o comes from Concord, and Allen comes from Fairfield. Both are in the statistical region, but it’s so big that they are their own metro areas. That’s why it just missed the list.

Tier 2

Philadelphia, Pa.

One starter is from Philadelphia in redshirt junior offensive lineman Jahmir Johnson. But the other player, redshirt freshman defensive back Romello Edwards, is a walk-on.

Tampa Bay Area, Fla.

Two players come from this region, but redshirt sophomore wide receiver Richard Mize Jr. is the walk-on in this one, holding it from fully making the list. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jacquez Jones of Clearwater has a bright future, though.

Warner Robins, Ga.

Marquez Callaway is the star from this area, which is in Houston County but is again too far south of Atlanta or Macon in Georgia. The other player from the area is redshirt junior defensive lineman Dawson Stephens. But he’s from Kathleen, Ga.

Huntsville, Ala.

Jeremy Pruitt’s home state, and really the metro area closest to his roots, has a backup linebacker in Will Ignont who could be a major player in the rotation. Redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Maurese Smith is the other guy from the area, and he’s from Toney, Ala.
