Tennessee football: Vols in top 5 for 2020 WR Kris Abrams-Draine
Tennessee football recruiting got some good news Thursday. The Volunteers are in the top five for Alabama wide receiver Kris Abrams-Draine.
With four seniors and a junior figuring to be the five main players in the wide receiver rotation this year, Tennessee football clearly has plenty of work to do to keep that position stocked for the future. They may be getting closer to it.
The Vols made the cut for Alabama wide receiver Kris Abrams-Draine Thursday. A three-star on Rivals, Abrams-Draine comes from Spanish Fort High School in Spanish Fort, Ala., which is in Baldwin County, across the bay from Mobile, Ala.
Abrams-Draine listed Tennessee football along with the Oregon Ducks, the Florida State Seminoles, the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Ole Miss Rebels. He announced his top five schools on Twitter.

Despite being a three-star on Rivals, Abrams-Draine’s 247 composite rating is a four-star. He stands at 5’11” 165 pounds, so it could be his size holding back his rating. However, he can clearly produce at the high school level and has potential at the college level.
Tennessee football is in good standing to land him as well. The elimination of schools like the Florida Gators and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets is incredibly beneficial, and Jeremy Pruitt’s connections throughout the state of Alabama are significant.
Right now, there are no predictions for him on the Rivals FutureCast. However, the FanFutureCast has Rocky Top as a favorite to land him with a plurality of 36 percent. Meanwhile, the 247Sports Crystal Ball has the Vols second to the Ole Miss Rebels in terms of favorites to land him.
Either way, UT is in a decent position to get this guy to Knoxville, and him trimming his list to keep them in the top 5 is a big deal. Now, it does look like he prefers somewhat of a spread, which keeps the other schools in play. But maybe being a pro-style offense could be what makes the Vols a unique school to land him.
