Tennessee football recruiting made the cut for Montgomery, Ala. offensive lineman James Robinson Sunday night. The Volunteers were in his top five.

After making the cut for a four-star inside linebacker Noah Sewell Sunday afternoon, Tennessee football made the cut for another top prospects Sunday night. And this prospect is much closer to home for Rocky Top.

Offensive lineman James Robinson, a 2020 prospect out of Carver High School in Montgomery, Ala., listed UT in his top five with a host of other SEC schools on Sunday. Robinson is a three-star on Rivals.

In addition to Tennessee football, Robinson had the Auburn Tigers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels and Texas A&M Aggies in his top five. So not only were they all SEC schools, but four of them were SEC West schools. He announced his list on Twitter.

Standing at 6’4″ 330 pounds, Robinson would certainly bring the weight that Jeremy Pruitt loves in his lineman. He stated his desire to add more 300-pound linemen at SEC Media Days, and Robinson certainly helps on that front.

The good news for the Vols is they are also a major favorite to land the Alabama prospect. UT is a unanimous favorite on the Rivals FutureCast and the 247Sports Crystal Ball to land him, and they are a majority favorite on the Rivals FanFutureCast.

Simply put, Tennessee football is a major player to get Robinson. Despite a historically great recruiting class on the offensive line in 2019, Jeremy Pruitt has done a great job not letting up. He already has two commitments at that position for 2020 and numerous other targets.

Landing Robinson would be huge for building depth up front, even with pretty much everybody set to come back next year on Rocky Top. Despite his frame, Robinson is listed as an offensive guard, which would hint that he may actually want to slim down some. But he fits the profile of what Pruitt wants, so he would be a great pickup.
