It was one thing to beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Gus Malzahn’s team pounded them. They deserved a ton of credit for that game, winning 56-23 against a team that, yes, is rebuilding, but should not get demolished like that.
All of a sudden, Auburn is beginning to look like the Alabama Crimson tide with the way it’s blowing out teams. And they are only getting better. Remember, this is all with a true freshman quarterback in Bo Nix. He’s is turning the offense into a juggernaut, and the defense is elite.
So Auburn truly is a complete team. They have another major test on the way, though, with the Florida Gators on the road this weekend. Should they win, they hit their bye 6-0. Then they get the Arkansas Razorbacks before a critical game at the LSU Tigers. After LSU, they host the Ole Miss Rebels, Georgia Bulldogs, Samford Bulldogs and Bama in the Iron Bowl.
Simply put, this team has a brutal test every other game coming up. And it’s against the other four teams in the top tier of this SEC Power Rankings. That combined with what Auburn has already done will test them the rest of the way. If they go undefeated with it, they deserve to stay here.
