ESPN’s scoreboard appears to be trolling Tennessee football. They used the Lady Vol logo for the UT Volunteers against the UGA Dawgs.

Is there a troll job of Tennessee football happening right now at ESPN? Or was this an honest mistake by the people running the website there? We don’t know the answer to that, but either way, it’s a direct shot at Rocky Top.

The Tennessee Lady Vols’ logo was representing UT’s logo on the website’s scoreboard for Saturday night’s home game against the Georgia Bulldogs early Tuesday morning. It was eventually corrected, but these mistakes never get deleted forever.

Considering that this game is set to be televised on ESPN, it was even more of a hilarious mistake. By the time they had corrected the issue, screenshots of the scoreboard appeared all over Twitter and social media.

More from Vols Football

The question is whether or not people were laughing more at Tennessee football or the network’s mistake. Of course, at 1-3 and with no wins against an FBS school, the Vols are getting no respect from anybody.

Meanwhile, nobody expects them to beat the Georgia Bulldogs or even compete when the two face off Saturday. So you could see why somebody would find it funny to troll Rocky Top by putting the Lady Vol logo up.

However, it may be a bit offensive. After all, the Lady Vols logo and the restoration of it was a point of contention for the athletics program earlier in the decade. And for a school that prides itself on the success of the women’s sports, it’s unfair to make the logo synonymous with the lesser.

Maybe we’re overthinking all of this. It could have just been an honest mistake, but within the context of the season and the way people take shots at schools, it was all to perfect for people to continue directing laughs at Tennessee football. So at the end of the day, the only victim of this trolling ended up being the Vols.
