Tennessee football vs. South Carolina: Vols live stream, game time, TV info
At 2-5, Tennessee football plays host to South Carolina Saturday. Here is our preview for the UT Volunteers and the Gamecocks.
They are 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the SEC. But Tennessee football has reason to not give up on the prospects of a bowl game just yet, and Saturday will be a great test for them against another SEC team with a losing record that appears to be improving.
Will Muschamp’s South Carolina Gamecocks head to Knoxville for an afternoon showdown with the Vols. South Carolina comes in with a 3-4 record and 2-3 SEC record. Both teams lost last week, Tennessee to the Alabama Crimson Tide and South Carolina to the Florida Gators.
The week before, however, South Carolina shocked the Georgia Bulldogs while UT upset the Mississippi State Bulldogs. So Jeremy Pruitt against Muschamp today is a clash between two former Nick Saban defensive coordinators desperately trying to keep their teams’ bowl game hopes alive. Here is all the information you need for the game.

Jarrett Guarantano began the year as Tennessee football’s starter but was benched in favor of Brian Maurer against Georgia. However, Maurer has been knocked out of the last two games due to concussions. Guarantano finished the game against Mississippi State, which ended in a win. But he was pulled in favor of J.T. Shrout after a fourth quarter fumble against Alabama.
While South Carolina has a better record than the Vols, they probably need this win more to keep their bowl hopes alive. That’s because they close their season at the Texas A&M Aggies and at home against the Clemson Tigers. If they lose this game, they have to win one of those.
Meanwhile, Tennessee football has a tough road too, but the hardest part for them if they lose would be having to upset the Missouri Tigers on the road. They could also fall to the Kentucky Wildcats on the road. But all four games down the stretch are winnable, even if the Vols are an underdog in some of them.
Either way, though, the road to a bowl is dramatically complicated for the loser of this game. However, the winner will technically stay alive in the SEC East race at least through next week. That makes this game huge.
