Tennessee Lady Vols 2019-2020 preview by position: Backcourt
Final take
Yes, the Tennessee Lady Vols have to replace a ton of talent. Changing coaches is hard enough, but losing your leading scorer and assists person in Evina Westbrook leaves a lot of issues at the guard position for this year. Meanwhile, Meme Jackson is a brutal loss as a three-point specialist as well.

However, the good news for Rocky Top is the fact that the guards do have a ton of potential and return enough to replace the departing talent. Zaay Green was a superstar recruit and now has a year of experience under her belt. Jordan Horston has the same recruiting hype Westbrook had two years ago. Jessie Rennie, meanwhile, is a three-point specialist who signed out of Australia.
So Kellie Harper has new recruits to replace her best overall guard from last year and her three-point specialist. And she has a couple of decent role players who may be able to take a major leap this year with Westbrook gone.
Meanwhile, their other best player from last year, Rennia Davis, returns on the wing. She counts as a crucial backcourt player and will be the driving force of the team this year. So there is plenty of talent across the board in the backcourt this year. Harper just needs to put it all together and give it time to develop.
The good news for Harper and the Tennessee Lady Vols is, with this potential, none of these players are seniors. So they should be back next year to allow for a more elite backcourt since, as we have already mentioned, the talent is clearly there.
